B&L Bausch & Lomb Ray-Ban Wings

Ambermatic Sunglasses

Vintage Bausch & Lomb Wings sunglasses feature an amazing one piece polycarbonate Ambermatic lens and a subtle wrap design which quickly became one of the top choices of pilots around the world following their introduction. B&L Wings sunglasses were the last great innovation from B&L in eyewear before selling the Ray-Ban brand to Luxottica in 1998, Aside from the unique design and 1 piece lens, Wings sunglasses also used polycarbonate lenses - the same material used on airplane windshields - which allowed Wings to provide a large surface area of eye protection while remaining lightweight. This a rare example of Wings sunglasses that includes a gold brow bar to improve balance on the face and a B&L Ambermatic photochromatic lens. The Ambermatic lens darkens in the sunlight to become fully adaptable to changing light conditions, and this is a property that is infused into the lens and will never wear off or wear out. The gold unisex Wings frame measures approximately 5.675" temple to temple, and the left side of the lens is laser etched Wings Bausch & Lomb. The top of the nose bridge is impressed B&L Ray-Ban USA, part of the collection of a 30 year veteran of Delta Airlines and customer of Vintage Designer Sunglasses. These are new old stock Bausch & Lomb Wings Ambermatic sunglasses in mint, unworn condition and come with the original Wings case, cleaning cloth, and paperwork.
